Dear members of the committee,

I strongly reject this proposal. The current 5-year naturalization period already includes strict language and cultural requirements that ensure proper integration.

As a married professional who came to the Netherlands for work, I have made great sacrifices, leaving behind comfort and family to build a new life here aspiring to become dutch citizen. Within a few years, expats invest in homes, establish families, and contribute responsibly to the Dutch economy and society. This clearly shows long-term commitment and belonging.

Extending the period to 10 years would only discourage people who are already dedicated to integrating and contributing. Not everyone who stays more than 5 years becomes a citizen, so the current system is already balanced and fair.

The 5-year term is sufficient, motivating, and supports genuine integration.
