Moving to a new country with your family for work is one of the hardest and most important decisions in life. I made this choice because of the opportunities the Netherlands offers to highly skilled migrants. Changing the rules afterwards feels unfair, as many of us based our decision on the existing framework. Making naturalization possible only after 10 years will discourage others from coming, and it ignores the dedication and contribution migrants give during their first years here. I believe the Netherlands should employ policies that encourage smart and talented people to live here. Five years of living, working, and contributing should already show true commitment to the country.
