Dear Sir or Madam,

My family and I have been living in the Netherlands for three years as highly skilled migrants. Our main motivation to move here was to provide our son, who has a high IQ, with a better, more nurturing environment where he could receive the education and emotional support he deserves. He has already started primary school here and we are deeply committed to building our future in this country.

Being far from our home country, we have made sincere efforts to integrate into Dutch society, learning the language, adapting to the culture, and respecting the differences around us.

However, extending the naturalisation period to 10 years would be very disouraging for many people who, like us, are already investing in their integration and contributing to Dutch society.

If such a rule is to be introduced, it would be fairer to apply it only to new relocations. Otherwise, it would negatively affect the motivation of many current residents who are on their path to full integration.

Furthermore, increasing the required duration might reduce the Netherlands' attractiveness for highly skilled migrants, who play a key role in innovation and economic growth.
