I do not support the proposal to extend the naturalisation period to 10 years. The current 5-year requirement is a fair balance that allows newcomers enough time to integrate while also giving them a clear path to citizenship.

People who come to the Netherlands contribute from day one — they work, pay taxes, and take part in society. Their children grow up here, attend Dutch schools, and build their future in this country. Extending the waiting period to 10 years would ignore these contributions and create unnecessary uncertainty for families who already see the Netherlands as their permanent home.

Citizenship should reflect commitment and participation, not be delayed by additional years that do not add value to integration. For that reason, I strongly disagree with extending the requirement to 10 years.
