I strongly disagree with extending the naturalisation period from 5 years to 10 years. Many expats, including myself, moved to the Netherlands with the understanding that we could apply for nationality after 5 years of living, working, and contributing to Dutch society. Doubling the period would create uncertainty and disappointment for those who have already integrated and planned their future based on the current law. The 5-year rule is fair and encourages commitment and inclusion, while extending it to 10 years would make integration harder and less motivating for international professionals who already contribute significantly to the Dutch economy and community.
