We strongly disagree with the proposed extension of the naturalisation period from five to ten years. When we decided to move to the Netherlands, we made this life-changing decision based on the rules and laws that were in place at that time.

We have built our lives here — both of us work, pay taxes, and contribute positively to Dutch society in every way possible. Extending the required period for naturalisation would be unfair to those who have already committed to this country with the expectation of becoming citizens after five years.

We believe that integration is achieved through active participation in society, work, and community life — not simply through the passage of time. Doubling the waiting period does not promote integration; it only creates frustration and uncertainty for people who are already part of the Dutch community and contributing to it daily
