I strongly disagree with this new proposal.
This has more negative impact than any positive impact. EU countries attract investors, companies, top talent as they provide commitment to welcome these talents as citizens in 5 years period. This is a mutual commitment which both the country and these people are providing. I as an highly skilled migrant have moved to Netherlands and spend around 3 years to serve the country with improvements in digital transformation , supply chain, paid taxes, with the expectation of getting the citizenship and feeling welcome to the country. If this was not the case people like me would have preferred other EU counties like Germany which provides citizenship in 5 years, huge opportunities in technology and engineering, or maybe other countries where salaries are much more higher than Netherlands.
I fear this law will create tensions in talents and will force them to move out or consider other countries. This will also lead to companies moving their offices out of the Netherlands. This can be destructive to the growth and economy.
The sudden change is a blow to the faith of people like us who are committed to the country and served so long and also to children who will feel unwelcome and detached for longer period of time.
Nevertheless if this law is considered it should apply for new comers and provide them the option if they still want to choose the Netherlands. This should not apply to people who have spend years already and is waiting for citizenship.
Thanks
