I am concerned about the proposed extension of the naturalization period.

Highly skilled migrants like myself contribute significantly to the Dutch economy through high taxes, innovation, and community involvement. Extending the path to citizenship risks discouraging talent from choosing or remaining in the Netherlands. Citizenship provides a sense of belonging and stability that supports long-term integration — delaying it undermines that goal.

I understand the intent to strengthen integration, but this can be achieved without penalizing those already fully contributing. I encourage the government to consider:
• A fast-track or differentiated route for highly skilled migrants who meet integration and tax criteria.
• Transparent and fair transition rules for those already residing here under current conditions.
• Recognition of contributions (economic, linguistic, civic) when determining eligibility.

The Netherlands has built its success on openness and talent. Policies should continue to reflect that strength.
