U kunt op de gehele regeling en memorie van toelichting reageren.
An objection is being raised against the proposal to extend the naturalization period from 5 to 10 years.
Dutch citizenship offers security and is an important incentive for newcomers to fully integrate into society. A longer waiting period will have the opposite effect: people will remain insecure for longer, feel less connected, and participate less actively in social and political life.
The consequences are also significant for children growing up in the Netherlands. Without Dutch citizenship, their opportunities for education, scholarships, and equal opportunities may be limited, even though they grew up here and consider the Netherlands their home. This increases the risk of inequality within a new generation.
A five-year residency requirement is already a serious obligation. Extending it to ten years offers no demonstrable social benefit, but does cause significant social and economic damage
