As an immigrant currently residing in the Netherlands, I wish to express my concerns regarding the proposed extension of naturalization periods.

1.Integration Challenges: Lengthening the naturalization process may hinder my ability, and that of others, to fully integrate into Dutch society. A longer wait can limit our motivation to engage with the community and learn the language.

2. Economic Participation: Many immigrants, including myself, contribute to the Dutch economy. Delaying naturalization can prevent us from fully participating in economic opportunities, impacting both our lives and the country's growth.

3. Sense of Belonging: A prolonged naturalization period may foster feelings of exclusion and uncertainty. Citizenship is not just a status; it's about belonging to a community, and extended wait times can diminish that sense of connection.

4. Global Competitiveness: The Netherlands needs to attract and retain talent. Stricter policies may push skilled immigrants to seek opportunities in countries with more welcoming naturalization processes.

I urge you to reconsider this proposal and focus on policies that promote inclusion and integration for all residents.
