This is quite unacceptable to increase the Naturalization period from 5 years to 10. This has huge impact on the economy and in particular where people come from abroad to work for the Netherlands. If they stop coming then many highly skilled jobs will no longer be possible to fill up as we don’t have enough qualified professionals. Many surveys and research reports this. Many people come here for the sake of having a stability. However, if this is implemented then people will certainly lose their idea on moving to the Netherlands. Also, people currently living might migrate to other countries where the process is faster. Netherlands is know for being open and welcoming, this move will contradict and makes the Netherlands not an option anymore to 3rd country nationals. Already scarping/changing the 30% ruling itself has seen a great impact. Now, this move will be obviously a horrible mistake one could make. In today’s political situation, many researchers and engineers are eyeing on to the Western Europe instead going to the USA. Netherlands should see this as An option to lure the highly skilled migrants into the country and not to make it harder for them. I guess my opinion is asserted and I stand against this move. It quite seems like the political parties are making a huge blunder on cutting down funds for higher education, changing rules for 30% ruling, and now plan on changing Naturalization time frame from 5 to10, instead of worrying about other pressing matters which needs attention. Already Dutch health care if super inefficient and now if the foreigners don’t make it here due to this unprofessional move then the biggest issue will remain significant in the Netherlands. My opinion on this is I disagree with this idea.
