This will not help, but rather worsen things. This will push highly skilled migrants away from The Netherlands worsening the shortage of certain high skills. Simply doubling time needed for naturalization doesn't really do anything but harm the potential for those who have needed skills. Further more it will impacts families and those growing up in the Netherlands that are born to highly skilled migrant parents. A better idea would be to refine who classifies as highly skilled going forward to better filter "stale" skills. Along with that would be to tighten the other loop holes that people are abusing to move to the Netherlands in the first place. Another area of improvement would be to incentivize companies to have programs that would help integrate high skilled migrant employees into the Dutch language and culture. Dedicating time for this will help reduce the barriers and provide more integrated opportunities for those to learn the Dutch language and culture and prepare for their naturalization should they wish to pursue naturalization.
