This proposal would be absolutely devastating to many helpful communities in the Netherlands. The people I know personally who would be effected by this plan have positively contributed to Dutch society for years, and if this became reality, they would be forced to leave the country despite the fact that this is where their support network is. The idea that these migrants are not actually integrated into Dutch society is not accurate -- they stay here because they love the culture and add to it. If the naturalization process was extended, not only would it impact their ability to stay, but it would also discourage new migrants from attempting to assimilate in the way the governement wants them to. It would seem as if there was no point and that no matter how hard they try, they will not be welcomed in what they'd hoped would be their new home. Many of the concerns that this policy aims to address are valid, but enacting the proposal will have many devastating effects beyond what it intends.
