I am strongly opposed to the proposed extension of naturalization deadlines. As a highly skilled migrant, predictability and legal certainty are essential for long-term planning — professionally and personally. Extending the naturalization period increases uncertainty around residency and future integration, which can lead to visa complications, family reunification issues, and difficulty in securing stable employment or housing. The current timeframe already ensures sufficient integration while offering a clear path to full participation in Dutch society. Prolonging this process may deter international talent from choosing the Netherlands, ultimately affecting the country’s competitiveness and diversity.
