I would like to express my opinion regarding the proposed extension of the naturalization period for Dutch citizenship. While I understand that policy decisions must be thoroughly considered, I strongly believe that the current requirement of five years is already a reasonable and appropriate period for naturalization.

A five-year period provides ample time for individuals to integrate into Dutch society, learn the language, and demonstrate their commitment to the values and norms of the Netherlands. Extending this period may place unnecessary burdens on those who are already deeply integrated into the community.

Moreover, the five-year rule is aligned with similar naturalization processes in other European Union countries and has proven to be an effective standard for achieving a balance between the interests of both the state and those seeking to become Dutch citizens.

In conclusion, I respectfully suggest that the current naturalization period of five years is sufficient and does not need to be extended. This period is fair, balanced, and provides a clear pathway for individuals to contribute positively to Dutch society.

Thank you for considering my perspective.

Sincerely
Kishore
