As an immigrant, I strongly rely on the current 5-year naturalization period. This was one of the key reasons I decided to come to the Netherlands. I truly believe that this period is a great advantage for the country compared to many others around the world. I have even recommended the Netherlands to my friends as a place where people can come legally, work hard, and contribute to improving both their own lives and the society as a whole.

Immigrants play an important role in helping the country grow — economically, socially, and culturally. Extending the naturalization period would reduce one of the Netherlands’ most meaningful advantages as a welcoming and attractive destination for skilled workers and families.

As a software engineer who came here to work and contribute, I strongly disagree with this proposed extension.
