I wish to express my concern regarding the proposed extension of the naturalisation period from five to ten years. Having resided and worked in the Netherlands for the past four years, contributing through taxation and active integration into society, I find the prospect of applying this measure retroactively to be inequitable. Such an approach introduces uncertainty for individuals who have already committed significant time and effort to establishing their lives here. I respectfully submit that any change to the naturalisation period should apply solely to future applicants, thereby ensuring that those already contributing to Dutch society may continue to plan their futures with clarity and stability.
