I believe extending the naturalization period will have negative consequences for both immigrants and Dutch society. Many immigrants already feel connected to the Netherlands and want to become active citizens as soon as possible. If the process becomes longer, this sense of belonging will weaken, and people may feel excluded. Naturalization should be seen as a tool to strengthen integration, not delay it. A shorter and more accessible process would help people feel at home, contribute more actively, and build stronger communities. Therefore, I strongly recommend not to extend the naturalization periods.
