U kunt op de gehele regeling en memorie van toelichting reageren.I am a highly skilled migrant myself living in the Netherlands for the last 2.5 years. I definitely think extending the period to be able to apply for a citizenship should be 10 years.
However, it is a huge problem for people that are already in this process. After 2.5 years, I am planning to apply for a citizenship and have better opportunities for new titles in my job / better job opportunities.
I planned my whole life according to this. If it'll be changed to 10 years, a lot of people who are already in the process of this will be affected hugely and negatively.
I totally understand, some things need to stop to save the country but maybe it can start by getting less people in the country.
If such a rule will be approved, a lot of people who are at their 4th, 3rd, 2nd years will be affected and this is a huge life update for many - specifically if they are coming from a non-EU country like myself.
I believe I bring high value to the company I work in at the moment, and would love to bring more value without thinking about my citizenship or residency status.
It will ruin my whole life plans - and wouldn't be fair to have such a change when a lot of people already planned their lives based on this.
I think a Grandfather Clause is strongly needed if such a rule will pass, to protect people who are already living here with their lives planned like this.
Otherwise, I believe it's for the good of the country and should be applied. Also it should be way harder to come and live in the Netherlands for the future of all of us.
