This response regards the extension of citizenship requirements from 5 years to 10 years.

Government should caution against a binary approach to Citizenship.

While protection of a country, culture, wealth and well being is supported, the manner in which it is conducted required careful consideration.

There are many avenues to gain entry to the Netherlands. Some of those avenues add significant socio and economic benefits to Dutch society. ( Example being legitimate highly skilled migrants).

The period in which citizenship is possible should reflect and mirror the avenues or entry. Thus, consideration should be given to the manner of entry, the contribution of the individual and the deemed future contribution.
Another example: a family moved here, works in high stress and high skilled labour diligently. They acquire residence and enter their children into the schooling system. These types of families are clearly demonstrating long term commitment to the country, economy and society. They should be considered for shorter periods of citizenship, not longer periods.
