I wanted to move to The Netherlands since the first time i visited Amsterdam back in 2016. And i've been living and working here as a Highly Skilled Migrant for almost 2 years as of now. Naturally i follow all the local laws, pay taxes and respect the Dutch culture, since i really love the country and want to become a citizen. I even bought an apartment for my family, since we want to be a part of this country and dream about growing old here.

Becoming a Dutch citizen is our end goal and we're doing everything we can and is required to achieve that. So prolonging the time that we are required to live in the country by 5 more years makes us feel kinda unwelcome here. And this proposal is truly unjust to people like us who wish to integrate and become a part of this beautiful country.

A decision like that will definitely have negative consequences not only for people like us, who will be directly affected, but also for the country itself, since it will become much less desirable to highly skilled expats who help the economy.
