First of all, I want to express my concern regarding the recent change in naturalization law, specifically the absence of a transition plan.
It is surprising that such a significant policy change would be implemented without considering those who have already established their lives and contributed to the economy. While I understand the potential rationale behind the increased duration, a longer residency period does not automatically guarantee better integration.
I respectfully request that this law be reconsidered, at the very least by incorporating a transition period. It feels unfair to increase the requirement without offering a pathway for individuals who have already lived here for a substantial time.
The decision for highly skilled individuals to relocate to the Netherlands involves several factors, with the duration to naturalize being a significant one. If this law is deemed essential, I urge you to consider a transition plan. For instance, individuals who have resided here for at least three or four years by the law's effective date could be subject to the previous five-year requirement.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this important matter.
