I am in opposition to this proposal. There does not appear to be a benefit from it. If the goal is to make migrants better integrated, there are other ways of achieving it (raising the language requirements, requiring volunteer work, requiring community service, participation in local events etc). Raising the naturalization term is just another attempt to exclude non-EU citizens/"outsiders" from participating in the society as full, equal members. A longer duration does not mean better integration. Rather, skilled workers from outside the EU will continue to pay taxes and not get any of the benefits that the citizens of EU get. This will impact people's choice of Netherlands as a desirable country to work and live in if they will be required to spend over 10% of their lives just to get the right to work and move freely in the country.
