Thank you for at least giving an opportunity to share my opinion with you. Not many places I know do this :) I came to the Netherlands as a highly skilled migrant thinking that I can indeed become a citizen after 5 years. Changing this from 5 years to 10 years will delay my plans. Not only that, after spending quite some time here, without a legally abiding document/contract in this case a passport that you get when you become a citizen, I will still feel like I am not part of the community. There will be uncertainty hanging in my life without knowing what could happen when and I will not be able to plan my future to have a proper house, a family and other things every human being desires. As a highly skilled migrant, I contribute to the growth and economy of the country and in turn all I ask for is that I want to build my home in this country. As leaders of this country, I understand that you would like to prioritize your country and its citizens. That is why I would suggest that in case you do plan to implement this, you could consider implementing this for people entering the Netherlands after a certain period of time, say 2028 so that they can then decide if they want to come to the Netherlands or not. But it is unfair to implement this for those already staying in the Netherlands.
