Hello! I’m a highly skilled migrant and I’ve spent 3 years in the Netherlands. I’m waiting to get my naturalisation in two years. The current mandate makes me seriously consider staying here for the longer period. I am debating whether to stay here 7 more years or move to another EU country where I can get my EU citizenship in 5 years. While this is just a personal conundrum, I hear a lot more expats thinking this way. With this mandate, you will lose a lot of tax money coming from expats like me as they move on to countries like Germany that offers shorter routes to citizenship. The Netherlands will also face heavy skills shortages that comes from highly skilled migrants. Hope you will consider these elements while making the change.
