I would like to vote aginst the proposal for extending the naturalisation period from 5 years to 10 years. This is primarily on the reason that the proposition would be a huge deterrent to highly skilled and skilled migration of deep technical people. This may also be a deterrent to innovation, research and development on longer term where people from around the globe can come to the Netherlands and contribute to its economy. This proposition seems to be very short sighted, and may not be a great solution for the country long term economy. Instead, more provisions should be given to attract the highly skilled and skilled migrants to help them settle faster, who make tangible and significant contributions to the country's growth, modernisation and development.
