I am strongly against the decision to extend the naturalization period from five to ten years. This measure is wrong, unfair, and harmful to the Netherlands. At a time when the country is already facing a shortage of highly skilled migrants, such a rule will only make the situation worse. It will discourage talented professionals from settling here and contributing to the economy. With this law, the Netherlands would no longer be an attractive destination for highly skilled workers. A longer waiting period does not lead to better integration—it only delays equality, belonging, and social cohesion.
