U kunt op de gehele regeling en memorie van toelichting reageren.I'm against increasing the number of years needed for naturalization from 5 to 10. Instead of making it harder, why not make it easier? Imagine the benefits for the country if you could just regularize people's legal situation and make them feel more secure, able to participate in politics and voting, on top of paying taxes. When it comes to deeper connections to the land, time is definitely not the only parameter. I've lived in Germany for 9 years as a non-EU citizen, and the more I stayed, the more foreign I felt there. And now, they even have a more progressive approach to immigration, the Germans! Where does that leave Dutch people? The Netherlands has such a progressive image; why not show that in politics? It's a known fact that you need workers. It's also a known fact that your birth rate is falling. What's gonna happen to the Netherlands if it doesn't welcome immigrants? How do you plan to pay your elderly pension? What about academia, research development, or even health care staffing (which, by the way, already has a big shortage of professionals)?. It's surprising to me that such a developed country comes up with such policies in 2025. To reiterate my stance, it's deeply unfair to exclude non-EU nationals from naturalizing earlier and becoming active members of this society. And when it comes to integration, it's not time that will make people integrate better, but rather establishing more inclusive policies that allow people to be their best in the country they chose to live in.
