I strongly disagree with the proposed extension of the naturalization period from 5 to 10 years. This change would significantly increase uncertainty and insecurity for non-EU residents, many of whom are already contributing to Dutch society through work, education, and community involvement.

Doubling the wait time would mean five additional years of instability, during which individuals and families are vulnerable to job market fluctuations and may be forced to leave the country on short notice. This proposal risks discouraging skilled migrants from building a life in the Netherlands and undermines efforts toward integration and long-term commitment.

I urge the government to reconsider and maintain the current five-year path to naturalization.
