I respectfully disagree with the proposed extension of the naturalisation period from five to ten years.

I am a software developer working for a Dutch company, contributing daily to the economy and society of the Netherlands. When my partner and I decided to move here, we made this important life decision based on the laws and rules that were in place at the time including the five-year path to naturalisation.

We have integrated into Dutch life, work full time, pay our taxes, and contribute positively to the community. Extending the waiting period to ten years feels unfair to those who have already committed to the Netherlands in good faith and who are fully participating in society.

Integration is not only a matter of time it is about contribution, respect, and participation. We believe that the current five-year period already provides enough time for people to become part of Dutch society.
