At a glance, this decision might seem a good solution to naturalization, and becoming a Dutch citizen for migrants. However, in the long run it will backfire through losing lots of skilled migrants due to this long period. Secondly, Netherlands has the most vacancy among the EU according to Eurostat, adding barriers will serve no good to this problem. Instead, by demizing asylum acceptance rate and illegal immigration, and making their process lengthy, will lead to better results. Firstly, Netherlands become a good destination for highly skilled workers, and asylum seekers will be more reluctant to migrate to Netherlands unless they have a strong case and are really in danger. As an MBA student here, while struggling to find an accommodation, many asylum seekers have a house or apartment per each family member which they rent out illegally. So, by restricting asylum seeking option, there will be more opportunities for the ones that are cuturally well educated who contribute to the economy while adapting to the Dutch culture.
