Many people, including myself, have made long-term life and integration plans based on the current 5-year requirement. I am now in my fourth year of residence, and this sudden change would unfairly penalise those of us who have already committed to the process under the existing rules.

Furthermore, the Netherlands is currently facing a shortage of highly skilled migrants. Extending the naturalisation period, especially when the 30% ruling already ends after 5 years, risks discouraging talented professionals from building their future here. I respectfully urge you to reconsider this proposal and its potential negative impact on both integration and the country’s attractiveness to international talent.
