I oppose the proposal to extend the required residency period for citizenship from five to ten years. Such a measure would hinder immigrants from fully integrating into Dutch society, delaying their sense of belonging and reinforcing social inequalities. From an economic standpoint, the change could also discourage skilled professionals, who may choose to settle in countries with more favorable policies, ultimately leading to labor shortages and reduced economic growth.
