I disagree with extending the citizenship residency period from five to ten years. Doing so would delay immigrants’ ability to integrate and feel at home in the Netherlands, increasing the risk of inequality and marginalization. In addition, the longer wait could push skilled workers to relocate to other nations with more accessible pathways, weakening the labor market and hindering economic development.
